Rebranding: Proven quality in a new brand


On this page you will find all relevant information about the rebranding of our recently acquired Industrial Coatings Business from Sika. On 1st July 2023 all of our Industrial Coatings Business products were renamed and rebranded with new Sherwin-Williams product names.

Background:

  • On 1st April 2022, Sherwin-Williams acquired the business and assets of Sika AG’s European Industrial Coatings Business.

  • As part of the brand and product transition plan agreed with Sika, all Industrial Coatings Business products were rebranded and renamed from Sika, to Sherwin-Williams with effect from 1st July 2023.

Important informationen about the rebranding of our product portfolio acquired from Sika


Change of product names:

  • In addition to the detachment from the corporate identity (logo, corporate design) of Sika AG, our products established on the market will be given new product names in line with the Sherwin-Williams guidelines.

  • It is essential to remove the brand names such as ‘SikaCor’ or ‘Sika Unitherm’ that contain the Sika brand. To rename our products according to the defined guidelines of Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine, we have decided to change only the brand name.

  • Our products' subsequent characterisation or numeric product name remains mostly the same. This means that the recognition of our product portfolio is safeguarded while giving a clear structure as we continue to introduce exciting new technologies into the market.

Scope of the re-branding:

  • From 1st July 2023, the new product names will appear on all product related documents and other media.

  • These include product data sheets, safety data sheets, declarations of performance, brochures, websites, labels, quotations, order confirmations, delivery notes and invoices, and existing external approvals.

  • Packaging will continue to be supplied in a yellow design in the short term, as we phase out to blue packaging over the next 12 months.

  • Although the brand name will change, item numbers remain identical ensuring simple product identification.

How will the product name change work from 1st July 2023 and why I will still receive products with the former Sika label and former Sika product name after this date?

  • From 1st July 2023, all documents (including, but not limited to product data sheets, safety data sheets, declarations of performance, brochures, website, labels, quotations, order confirmations, delivery notes, invoices, and external approvals) will refer to the new Sherwin-Williams product names.

  • All products manufactured after 1st July 2023 will have the new Sherwin-Williams labels and new Sherwin-Williams product names.


  • All products manufactured and already stored prior to 1st July 2023 will still be sold with the former Sika labels and the former Sika product names.

  • For a transitional period, it is possible that you will purchase products from us that still contain the former Sika labels and the former Sika product names. You may also receive a mix of brands of Part A and B. 

Does the re-branding have an impact on product quality?

  • The re-branding and the associated change of product names will not impact the formulation of our products.

  • As a result, the products will continue to be made using the same raw materials, formulation, manufacturing process, expected quality, and technical data that has existed since then.



Which documents and media are affected by the rebranding?

Website:
A new Sherwin-Williams website will be released for the Industrial Coatings portfolio in German and English.
Product Data Sheets and other technical documents:
All Product Data Sheets are provided in the Sherwin-Williams design and progressively translated into different languages. The wording of content and the placement of headlines deviates from the old Sika Product Data Sheets. Declarations of Performance, Information Data Sheets or Application Manuals are also affected.
Safety Data Sheets:
All Safety Data Sheets are provided in Sherwin-Williams design.
Labels:
All labels for products manufactured after the 01st July 2023 will be provided in the Sherwin-Williams design.
Brochures, flyers and case studies:
All these documents will be provided in Sherwin-Williams brand and translated wherever required.
External approvals:
Our external approvals are gradually being adapted to the new product names.
Order-related documents:
All offers, invoices, delivery notes and order confirmations are provided in the Sherwin-Williams design, including new product names.
Packaging:
Packaging will continue to be supplied in a yellow design in the short term, as we phase out to blue packaging over the next 12 months.
Item numbers:
Despite the new naming our item numbers remain identical.
